Recent taiko changes break existing (Loved) maps #391

Open chayleaf opened 4 years ago

chayleaf commented 4 years ago

Some Taiko maps use(d) a background video with (skinned out) invisible playfield and notes instead of the usual means of showing notes. Example: https://osu.ppy.sh/b/2083972

With taikomania fixes, it's now impossible to have a transparent playfield (taiko-slider in skins).

I propose a .osu file option that controls whether the playfield (and notes?) are shown to make such maps possible again, and updating the existing loved maps using that feature to use that option (the map linked above and https://osu.ppy.sh/b/2114258, I don't think any other maps use it but I might be wrong), or at least to allow doing it via SB (?)

allowing completely transparent taiko-bar and notes and allowing overriding taiko-bar in the map-specific skin is an option as well

A good start would be listing all beatmaps which require fixing.

chayleaf commented 4 years ago

I listed all the loved beatmaps in the post above, but I can't possibly list all the graveyarded maps.

As far as I'm aware, only https://osu.ppy.sh/b/2114258 and https://osu.ppy.sh/b/2083972 use this feature in the loved section

https://osu.ppy.sh/b/2114258 works now (at least with the storyboard patch in the map description)

peppy commented 4 years ago

Good to know, thanks.

We should probably update the beatmap itself (@ephemeralis can you look into that?)

Unionizing commented 3 years ago

I think its because of the taikomania patch that broke transparent skins,

chayleaf commented 3 years ago

it is, just like I mentioned in my post

Unionizing commented 3 years ago

it is, just like I mentioned in my post Ohhh, sorry. i didn't read that part. sorry about that.

(continued from other post)

yup, the entire playfield and notes are in the video itself, so the playfield is supposed to be transparent.
