Convert kudosu from old system (given for old posts) to new system with appropriate exchange rate #2163

A followup of discussion I've had - We should consider converting kudosu earned in the system from v1 to v2.

Reasoning for that is people feel that there is too much kudosu that you can earn in v2 compared to v1 - strictly speaking it makes all their previous effort look wasted due to the change in system. Either the amount of kudosu earned in new system had to be lowered - or this solution considered.

Proposed solution is to have kudosu exchanged from old ones to new ones for appropriate averaged rate (or logarithmically to the amount they had?)

Finding an exchange rate for the average V1 mod through taking averages of 100-or-so ranked charts from each gamemode.

then simply use this exchange rate and add it to v2 kudosu

maybe show an archived amount of how much kudosu the player got on v1

give them a trophy or something

There is no "new" kudosu. All upvote based kudosu are calculated dynamically and separately from the old kudosu numbers.

Once we get the reputation system in this will change, but for now the options we have (while both systems are running) are limited and to a degree, pointless (since using kudosu for anything is being phased out).

Once we roll out the new system, the kudosu numbers will likely be returned to pre-modv2 numbers and archived away (but also converted to mean something in the reputation system).

I think this should be made clearer to the general userbase, it's not known by too many people and I've seen people less motivated to mod v1 maps just because it gives almost no kudosu

Yeah, we definitely need better documentation.
