Client Prototype

The client needs to be able to track a user's location and transmit it to the server.

Here is a brief versioning outline of the prototypes:

UGmap Client V_0.1.1 Functionality

• device state checking: needs to be done to ensure that the application is fired up without errors
• device Internet connection access: used to determine whether the device can communicate with the smartcitizen.me server in order to fetch the latest SCK 1.1 updates during probing/tracking
• GPS route tracking: save geolocation on the device's local storage in order to plot it on the map at request
• route naming: saved routes can be given an identifier (name) by the user prior to tracking

UGmap Client V_0.1.2 Functionality

Improvements:

• a history page with previous route data has been added
• an information template for routes has been added: this displays a map, showcasing the relevant route

UGmap Client V_0.1.3 Functionality

Improvements:

• a window specification input has been added: can be used to specify time window between updates (in milliseconds)
• real-time probing/sample data: parsed information from the SCK server is displayed on the page while tracking is in progress
• map markers: map markers are renderred on the map for each route's information page; a marker stores the context data from the SCK device

NOTE: some of these features need debugging (e.g. connectivity checking)
