I installed KE on a 2020 M1 Macbook, Big Sur 11.4.
The initial configuration asked me to 1) "Disable Keyboard Drivers" since they were outdated. 2) Then restart my computer. 3) Then Enable New Keyboard Drivers.
I did step 1 and 2. Then I couldn't log into my computer any longer. My password no longer worked. I tried with both an external and internal keyboard. My fingerprint also wouldn't let me in to the computer (it didn't seem that was an option).
I could only get around the problem by changing my login password through Apple's AppleID managed login password reset feature. I changed my login password to one that doesn't use "complex characters". I'll leave that intentionally vague for security. But short story: my previous password may have contained some characters that are considered "complex". That password worked fine for months, until I installed KE and did steps 1 and 2 above. The new "simpler" password worked. And I got back into my computer.
I'm posting this here because I imagine that if I did not have Apple's centralized login password management enabled, I might have gotten irrevokably locked out of my computer (?). At least maybe until booting into safe mode or something?
