Karabiner inactive while a bluetooth device is connecting (Big Sur)

Hello,

I use the 14.4.0 version, and the OS is 11.6.5. I have a Logitech Harmony remote, seen a as bluetooth keyboard on my Mac. I defined complex modifications on it, for example I remap "volume increment" to another key I need for my external soundcard.

The problem I have is :

• the mac automatically disconnects the Logitech Harmony after a certain time (I don't exactly know how much) it disconnect, but the device is still paired (I checked using blueutil)
• when I hit the volume button on the remote, the Logitech Harmony starts to reconnect to the mac.
• here is the problem : there is a time of about 2/3 seconds where the mac receives "volume increment" event instead of the one defined in my complex modifcations. After that time, everything works great again.

The problem is that the original events where of course not meant to be send to my mac, and it does stupid things on my mac. This problem was not present on older versions of Karabiner, that I used with a good old High Sierra.

I'd love the possiblity to block events while the device is not completely connected, is that possible ?

Ok, I just discovered that new (?) setting "Delay before open device" that was set to 1000 ms.

If it put it at 10, the problem seems to be resolved. What do I risk exactly with that low value ? Karabiner is always active in my configuration, it says that the device may become unusable after KE is quit, but I don't intend to quit KE except when I restart the computer.
