I agree with your points. I'll admit that I haven't been able to pay enough attention to this project. I'll plan on purging some of the redundant tutorials. What do you think about putting them into a separate file like "Some other tutorials" which acts as a link aggregator, nothing more and nothing less?
Splitting it into multiple files would give newcomers a chance to contribute if they feel like they have something, but it will be one more thing to maintain. Coming in with anything is not ideal. Sticking to the "masterpiece" materials, as you said, we could remove most of the projects listed in the repo. Curating, reading through all the project materials would take tremendous amount of work.
