I can see lots of issues with no answers from any contributors or author, obsolete embedded dependencies and no activity regardgin meteor getting to version 1.5 and even 1.6 already. Is this package maintained by anyone?

jasonschock commented 6 years ago

I think you have your answer.

Shouldn't the guys at Meteor discourage the use of unmaintained packages? Meteor has some great ideas but the ecosystem is dying :(

Well problem here is more about old libs written need to be supported actively. In node libs which super old still works, in here things breaking too fast wihout attention.

Even though meteor seems to be going to an end, many important and useful stuff already made. So I think later there will be some other framework built from meteor experience.

Meteor core is evolving well, but there are a lot of outdated packages on Atmosphere due to Meteor strategy of shifting focus to NPM. The main recommended packages (such as this one, collection 2, etc) need to be maintained by the current community and the others shifted to NPM.

Abandoned Github packages, especially those related to Node.js are all over the place, and this has to do with the openness, hype and rapid growth of the Node.js ecosystem and not just specific to Meteor. Open Source tech is built and maintained by the community and each of us can choose to either be part of the problem or the solution.
