Make Erlang, Java and JSON-API interoperable #43

Currently, values stored by using e.g. the JSON-API might not be (easily)
readable on the Erlang or Java side.

TODO:
- agree upon a common set of (value) types all APIs interpret the same way
- adapt APIs accordingly

this has been implemented in recent svn trunk and r1607 documents the changes
