BSD root error on 16GB iPod Touch #2

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
When jailbreaking an iPod touch 16GB, I get the error "BSD root: md0, major
2, minor 0".

According to the internet, this is a common problem with about 50% of 16GB
iPod Touch devices. The 16GB iPod comes with either 1 16GB memory chip or 2
8GB ones, the error occurring on the latter devices.

Will a fix be upcoming for this? I assume it has something to do with
incompatible code being loaded into the bootloader for the two 8GB chip
devices.

I'm guessing that it takes the 2 8gig chips as two different devices and tries
to
jailbreak both and loads the patched firmware/bootloader to both when only 1
has the
bootloader and the other is just for storage.

@mmk100: Hold home and power and continue to hold until you got into recovery
mode,
then you can restore to fix your iPod.

6.2 fixed it for me, though.

You need to keep holding it until you see the logo. It seems like about a
minute or
so, you can't let go of it at all. There's no way to brick an iPod, which is
the good
news.

Okay, well I have the same problem, it just keeps spamming that error at me.
Over and over again scrolling down the screen. Happened while I was trying to
downgrade the bootloader.
And now, I believe I've bricked my itouch. iTunes can't detect it anymore, so
how do
I fixi t?

Nevermind =)
the recovery mode bit worked, found out you just have to keep holding it down,
don't
stop when the screen goes blank and then press a button like I've been doing,
you
have to hold it for a little bit longer. Hope that helps.
