Can I use WebIOPi as a front-end to control scripts that DO NOT use GPIO

I know this is not an issue - I'm just asking can this be dine.
And if it can, then, can you point me in the right direction.

Python version used?
=>2.7.3

Distro used? (WebIOPi has only been tested on Raspbian Wheezy)
=>2014-01-07-wheezy-raspbian

Raspberry Pi board revision? (1 or 2)
=>2

For Javascript side bugs, Browser?
