This PR includes fixes for 15 items mentioned in the issue https://github.com/precision-sustainable-ag/dst-econ/issues/160 The same are listed below:
[Yield] 2: “Enter my own yield estimate” button I think we will need to add text telling the user this is intended to be a change from normal and can be positive or negative. Ray - “Enter my own yield estimate” should read “Enter my own estimated yield change.” Also, “bushels/acre” might best read “bushels/acre change” to doubly reinforce the idea that it is a change. If doubly reinforcing is overkill, simply choose one of the above suggested word changes.
[Field and Farm] 1: What is your intended Cash Crop for this Field? [Comment: clarify – is it for the next growing season?] Answer is yes; therefore we should probably add that text.
[Additional Considerations] 1: State or federal program section: might want to consider re-wording the sentence as follows: “Please enter the estimated cash contribution from the state or federal program ($/ac)” JAW - Believe this suggestion is fine to implement.
[Yield] 1: If the user selects “no change in yield estimates” it appears that the financial analysis option appears. However, this doesn’t seem relevant to the selection, correct? JAW - True, if no change they don’t need to select year 1, 3, or 5
[Summary] 1: Revenue Impact should indicate for which year it represents if the CC adjusted yield estimate is selected: Year 1, 3 or 5 JAW – I think this suggestion is fine to implement.
[Grazing] 1: Change “Hours per season to graze and feed livestock” to “Hours per season to feed livestock and graze cover crops.”
[Grazing] 2: I would change the yellow color from the bottom two rows to match those on the Tillage and Fertility tab tables
[Suggestions provided on 11/28] 2: On the Summary table on each tab, add a sub-total for “total costs” and a sub-total for “total benefits” and then the “total economic” cost or benefit of cover crops. Currently, only the total is reported.
[Suggestions provided on 11/28] 4: Farm and Field tab: change “What is your intended cash crop for this field?” to “What cash crop will follow the cover crop in this field?”
[Suggestions provided on 11/28] 5: The bottom-line cost of each equipment table expansion provides the default cost. It contains an information box accessed by pressing the “circled ?”. One explanation not provided is that they can just type anything in the cost estimate. I suggest changing the text in the information box to: “Farmers view costs differently. The table to the right allows you to customize the cost estimation to fit your needs. Three ways exist to estimate cost of this activity.
[Suggestions provided on 11/28] 6: On the Seedbed Preparation Tab and the Planting Decisions Tab, the bottom line of the equipment table expansion is “Estimated Relevant Cost ($xx/acre).” All (I think) other equipment table expansions contain the activity (e.g., chemical spray equipment cost ($xx/acre)) in their label. I suggest changing 1) the label on the Seedbed Preparation Tab from “Estimated Relevant Cost” to “Seedbed preparation equipment costs ($xx/acre) and 2) the label on Planting Decisions tab from “Estimated Relevant Cost” to “Planting equipment costs ($xx/acre).” This communicates better and gives consistency across tables.

If “no change in yield estimates” is selected, hide the row of that table that says “do you want your financial analysis to be based on anticipated yields in years 1, 3, or 5?” The only time this line should appear is if “use cover crop adjusted yield estimates from the table above” is selected.
[Suggestions provided on 11/28] 9: Revenue Impact tab. If “Yield impact” appears in the “Increases in Income” section of the table, add “(year 1)” or “(year 3)” or “(year 5)” after the words “Yield Impact.” The particular yield would be dependent on what year was chosen on the Yield tab.
[Suggestions provided on 11/28] 10: Thanks for putting the links in the Resources page. When I come to a page with lots of web addresses, I tend to ignore them because they are in a foreign language. I am more inclined to use them if they are a link in a title or sentence that explains them. For example, under Regional Cover Crop Councils I would do as the table below suggests.
