Two button presses required to dim screen #21

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open nocture
2. Enter night
3. Try to dim screen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The first button press does nothing, and the second press causes the 
screen to darken. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Nocture 2.0.0, Snow Leopard 10.6.2. 

Please provide any additional information below.
Macbook Pro Unibody Mid 2009 2.67Ghz 4GbRAM
