And maybe we can fill the freed space with some new textures :D - I will try to setup an easy guide how to edit textures so somebody with more graphixs skills then myself can give it a try. (Oh and of course I can easily extract all existing textures arma currently has as templates)
Just some links which might be interesting in that case: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?179985-ArmA-3-retexture-templates-by-DreamRebel http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?179842-HEMTT-Retexture-Templates-and-Mod http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?179354-AngelWingGamingJacob-s-Hunter-Retexture-templates http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?177841-Release-Template-for-custom-Armed-Orca http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?166354-Max_Cops-and-Robbers-MOD http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?164601-KDKMerlin_HC3 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?150396-Blackop-Swat-Units
Sorry didnt managed to do this, ended up doing runs all night and even found a lovely house I want to buy :D
... ok 12,5MB vs 31MB (ok this includes a cleanup of unused textures as well) with all the textures currently used (however it seems there is a police cap texture missing, do you know anything about this @CeltS-Dubbz261 ? And could you take a look at some of the skins in the paa2jpg branch on the test server and let me know how it looks? pretty please :)
Gave this a run today and the textures look great (on my crappy machine) the only issue is that due to LOD loading the jpg loads only relatively late on low end settings so what ever is skinned with the jpg just has a black gloss skin until you get close enough to load it. Not sure how this will handle on high end settings - guesstimate is that the jpg will have loaded way before the player can see the black texture.
PS. @CeltS-Dubbz261 you gaming rig is asked for :D
Oh yeah and almost forgot: don't they look pretty ^^ (no worries the sheriff is just in there for testing purposes)
Nice mate. I really like the red bull one! I'll give it a test tomorrow night as it's pretty much my bed time now :P
they are simply cheaper and you can crash more of them :D
The additional textures which are currently part of the mission are rather inefficiently packed, turning them into JPGs and reducing the fidelity a little should drop their size by at least 2/3.
