3D Side-by-Side Support #101

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Connect a 3D camera that uses side-by-side technology.
2. Configure min. Battery Voltage (V) in the Config Tool.
3. Use FPV glasses that support 3D (SBS) to view the OSD information.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
To clearly be able to read the Battery Voltage displayed when using FPV glasses
in 3D mode.
Information should be nicely overlay similar to when not using 3D.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I cant find any information that this is even supported today, but maybe it
could be a future feature.
Don't hate me, but, I have not even tested this. :| (but, I will)
But, I'm pretty sure it will not work as the OSD will be placed over both side
of the 3D picture (left and right), see attacment (side-by-side_osd_normal.jpg.
I mean the correct OSD overlay would be placed as attachment
side-by-side_osd_duplicated.jpg.

Please provide any additional information below.
Maybe 3D in Field Sequential works today, I don't know, have no equipment to
test.
Can't find any separate OSD module that seem to support 3D today.
The only thing I have found is that NerdCam3D has it's own limited OSD included
in the camera, only providing battery Volt+Amp and Time.

I have started a thread hoping for people to provide some info/ideas..

Hello,

This is not a 3D OSD.

If you can connect OSD only to one side, then it is possible that your problem
can be solved that way. You might need 2 osd modul also.

I know that minimosd is not a 3D OSD, but maybe it could be?

NerdCam3D (only SBS camera I have found) does not allows user to hook into one
of the right or left original camera video signals.
The 3D side-by-side processing is done by the camera electronics itself and
only the 3D side-by-side video signal is sent out.

Well then no chence. no real way.

we could display all panels twice, but we would have half of the resolution we
have now. Also lot of coding we need.

So at this point i would say, not possible.

The best way would be to add a 2D to 3D converter that work on the fly, but
will have a delay.

I use blackbird 3d camera with headplay goggles and it works well with this
setup.

The Headplay googles uses 3D frame sequential and not side-by-side, that's the
reason why it works. My Fatshark Dominators googles only have support for
side-by-side.

I am using skyzone 3D FPV camera and goggle. Installed 2 MinimOSD-extra and my
"3D OSD" is working good.

Skyzone 3D FPV is actually a 2 camera + 2 videoTx setup. So doing the
soldiering twice, one for left eye and one for right eye, is all I need to do.

but still the "OSD depth" is difficult to adjust. I need to move the
left-eye-OSD-panel leftward and move the right-eye-OSD-panel rightward. and the
process is painful

download left OSD config ->
download right OSD config ->
reconnect pixhawk cable ->
power-on -> check no good -> power-off ->
reconnect FTDI cable ->
change left minimOSD config ->
change right minimOSD config ->
download left OSD config ->
download right OSD config ->
.... and cycle again and again until I see a good OSD depth in the goggle.

it will be nice if this little "left/right" shift can be done live after
power-on.
