VB opens up sforce_connect.xla to this line, assume it is referencing this as
the specific cause of the error.

LINE 274
Sub CreateSubMenu1(InputCtrl As CommandBarPopup)

I have a similar issue. I have installed the Office Toolkit and downloaded
sforce_connect_ee_1602.zip
When I try to open or close Excel, it goes into Visual Basic with the following
error message:
Compile error:
Object library invalid or contains references to object definitions that could
not be found

I think you need the office toolkit provided on the download page

I get this same error whenever I try to add the add-on to Excel 2007 regardless
of whether I have installed the office toolkit. Therefore, I think the office
toolkit is not installing properly and I have tried to install, uninstall, and
re-install many times. I have also tried restarting my computer after
installation, but that does not seem to work. If anyone has any tips and tricks
on getting it installed, please help! Thanks!

I just started receiving this error with v1602; I've been using the add-in
without any issues until today. I uninstalled Visio 2010 a few days before
receiving this error. Other than that, no significant changes have been made
to my PC. I tried using v1603 (currently the latest version) but it gives the
error immediately.
