Medium Has Become All About Publications

If you are writing your first Medium post, eagerly hoping that you would earn an overnight readership you the thousands, you can simply forget it. This is most certainly not what is going to happen. That is, unless you are willing to submit your post to a publication.

Hello! Do you have any thoughts on using https://write.as/ as an alternative blogging platform? It looked interesting to me.

@eigenfoo Interesting that you are the second person to recommend it to me within the past couple of days. I do not know much more about Write.as, other than the fact that it is very ActivityPub-fiendly, and thus, kind of famous across Mastodon. From my limited research, I managed to find a lot of open-source projects that the people behind are working on. Most interesting of all, WriteFreely, which seems to be the server-side app that powers Write.as. It seems open for self-hosting.

All in all, I will keep a look on those peeps. If the self-hosting option really works out, this might be an interesting thing to try out.
