User story: As a new visitor to the Pressbooks Directory, I want to quickly understand how to use the primary features of the Pressbooks Directory so that I can find the books/resources that I’m looking for.

Task: Build a simple, optional Pressbooks Directory product tour to help visitors understand how to use the Directory’s three core functionalities (natural language search, faceted search (filtering), displaying results in the form of ‘book cards’).

Specification: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Sm33yUlIP7o6bOXk_RsdqOb31w4KqeX_kiksX4prCNo/edit. Improved wireframe coming soon. Dev can work with Travis & Steel.

@LeighKP and @SevenSidedSquare -- the product tour is now available for testing on https://dev.pressbooks.directory. Screenshot from 2021-02-19 12-57-38

We still need to decide about the desired placement of the 'Take The Tour' button. If you have other feedback or suggestions for improving the tour, please share in a comment on this ticket or directly with me in some other way.

Looks awesome, friends. I especially like the typing animation. Nice touch.

As far as the content of the tour goes, I would suggest doing some editing. Some of the copy is a little excessive and I think there may be too many points on the tour. I can help with the first, but don't have the UX experience to suggest edits to the amount of tour points. If you would like me to edit the copy, could you send it to me in an editable doc?

@LeighKP the product tour text can be found in the specifications document linked in the ticket description itself. Hopefully should already have access needed to comment/make suggestions?

Thanks @SteelWagstaff . Mind if I mark it up? I'll track changes

@LeighKP Go for it!

This is really great! I agree that it's a bit longer than is ideal. Maybe we could omit the bits about the number of results and the sorting options. Most users will already be familiar with those features, although it may be helpful pointing out their location.

Copyedits made. I agree with Travis on omitting the number of results and sorting options. I also indicated some places in the book card stage that could also go

Tested and working as expected on dev and staging versions of directory.
