Allow the default HTTP adapter configuration to be retrieved, and allow such a configuration object to be passed to the defaultHttpAdapter method. This allows

configuration to be tweaked before the default adapter is used
completely separate configuration to be used with the default adapter
default configuration to be used with a custom adapter
tweaked default configuration to be used with a custom adapter
