Fixes #20. @Trikolon, does this accurately represent your plans? Are there any better references I should use, or any changes you'd like in the way this is presented?

I'm going to merge this given @Trikolon's go-ahead and so that I can be sure to resolve the merge conflict with #21 before I go on vacation, but if there are any more comments here in the next week, I'll send another PR to fix them.
