Any progress on getting this working?

alkmanas commented 8 years ago

It seems that a lot of people is having the same problem.Me too on El Capitan 10.11.5 https://github.com/processing/p5.js-editor/issues/178

lmccart commented 8 years ago

does the message say "“p5.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."? if so, try right clicking and then selecting open.

alkmanas commented 8 years ago

No unfortunately this is not the case. This is the actual message.

the p5.exe will not run on my laptop

This is what I get when I try to open it p5js-windows-10-error

I am running Windows 10 32bit OS with 64x- Based Processor

I have tried moving the exe file to another folder, tried running it in Windows 8 compatibility mode with no success it just keeps saying

"This app cant run on your pc, to find a version for your PC check with the software publisher"

Please if anyone has an idea or has had the same issue please let me know

also I'm not sure if I should post another issue because my issue is a bit different from the main issue addressed here. if so I apologize but it was the closest issue to mine. let me know and I will create a new issue.

I don't know if it's a useful information but might help some folks (as it can be not obvious at first glance) - the editor wasn't opening on my computer (win 10 x64 OS, x64 proc - it was appearing in the processes for few secs without opening the window and then was suddenly closed) , but seems like some of the ad-ware antiviruses block the app without any pop-up alert about it (like the Lavasoft web companion which is bundled with Filezilla FTP client during the installation). Also some classic anti-virs can freak out with this one sometimes (AVG does but at least it's giving the pop-up alert so it's easy to find what is the cause ) .

(Process of finding the solution: As I wanted to find the solution of this by any means (curiosity's strong sometimes with this one) I reinstalled Windows thinking it's system's internal problem or some lack of drivers. When it managed to run on clear OS, I just checked which app causes the problem. )

Usually moving the application to the application folder does the job but the general solution is to circumvent the MacOs Gatekeeper. I think this would help : Gatekeeper : also issue #178
