Note: the links do both work on Safari on iPad. The issue is just with chrome and firefox on iPad.
I include two links because the one hosted from Ohio State does not use the web editor. So this seems to be something with p5.js itself.
I tried to tinker with the chrome and firefox settings on the iPad to unblock the pop up blocker for chrome and firefox but that didn't fix it. I also tried to change the safe browsing settings to see if that helped but it didn't.
