Could be a separate patches directory in the config file; press a specific key (say X) on a rom, and it shows you the patches from that dir. Then select a patch, then the game is launched with that patch. This would be huge for pokemon romhacks as they all originate from the same builds of emerald/firered, the size can really add up especially without compression.
