Sleep functionality does not work as expected on Big Sur. When setting up hot corners to sleep, what it does is turn my MBXP's display off and locks the screen, but music is still playing (if I am listening to music) and the caps lock and fn keys lights will be turned on. This issue is also recreated when I attempt to put the laptop to sleep using the shortcut Option–Command–Power button. The only time I can properly get the mac to sleep is by accessing the apple menu on the top left corner of the menu bar and selecting sleep or pressing the power button down for 1.5s and selecting sleep. Oh, and closing the lid initiates sleep as expected. I'm not sure if this is something wrong on my end but I use command + top left hot corner to sleep mac on a daily basis, which is really convenient
