would love to get some stronger testing for the various types we wanna support, but compilation should be enough for now

Really not liking the way this came out

We can decide to go the route of using the num_traits crate (and other externals) using this: https://github.com/rust-competitive-helper/rust-competitive-helper

but until we make any decision I'm closing this one
