Right now we don't do anything to call out the fact that statistics are being loaded when the user first pulls up the "Explore" section. Instead we just show the same zero state (i.e. when there's no data) which -- particularly for users with slow connections -- would be very confusing and likely steer them away from the site.
Related but a separate block of work, we should also speed up the page by pre-computing these statistics server-side.
