Hi, yeah, the Music plug-in is in a grim state. I've fixed some things a few months ago, but it's probably still a bit buggy.
You can try my development build here, which isn't code-signed, but comes with a proper installer which even lets you decide to install only for your user or all users:
https://github.com/kblaschke/frontend-music-plug-in/releases/tag/v3.0-pre1
As a bonus, it also works natively on Silicon-based Macs and comes with the new 9K+ preset pack.
Additional presets would need to be installed right in the bundle. In finder, go to this path if you've installed for your user:
~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/ProjectM.bundle/Contents/Resources/presets/
Copy any additional presets there, creating subdirs is okay. You can also delete any existing dirs, just make sure to keep the textures
folder!
I'm moving this issue to the proper repository.
Please try it, feedback is welcome!
I am unsure of which files/versions I have to download and how to properly install them. i am on Mac OS Monterrey. I have downloaded the v3.1.12 release but and followed the installation but it does not appear inside the itunes-pluggins folder. once I download the .gz file but I do not see the but unzipping it does not return a .bundle like other visualizers, if someone can explain proper installation I would appreciate it. Additionally, what is the installation process for the additional presets?
