Hi @jayknowstheway ,

A lot has changed in eight years, which is when the last release was done.

People have gotten hairless to run more recently with some additional patches, you might have some luck (this is still four years old, and you didn't say what version of Ubuntu you're using, so I have no idea if it will help you): https://github.com/projectgus/hairless-midiserial/issues/47#issuecomment-449911830

I have a newer branch doing more recent static builds of Hairless. Once these are ready they should run on any Linux distributuon but I'm afraid it still needs a bit more work. I do this in my spare time, and I don't have a lot of spare time these days so it's slow progress.

Also, ttymidi doesn't seem to get past the 'make' step in ubuntu..

dead end

I didn't develop ttymidi, the project is over here but also looks like it hasn't been worked on since 2012 which was when I linked to it.

If you're going to report a bug over there as well then please remember that details like your Ubuntu version and the actual error message are useful for developers, and that being polite when reporting bugs is also a big positive.

sorry man yeah I totally get having to maintain projects.. didn't mean to not be positive, I was just frustrated that many of the projects I start end up having major roadblocks once invest a good amount of energy. I'll try using it on mac and I'm sure I'll get where I need to be with this. I hope all is well and thank you for bridging a gap in tech.. it's definitely not an easy field to be maintaining stuff, and you have a very cool project.
