CUT 1

I’m your co-host James and on todays episode Brett Hummel speaks with Senior Director of Marketing Analytics for Veeva Systems, Martin Reznick. Martin's journey has been one filled with unexpected twists and turns, and like most of us, these changes happened when they were not expected. Whether it be being told he wasn't ready to be in a PhD program or having to turn down a dream opportunity to put his family first, Martin has had his fair share of tough breaks. Yet he has come out on the other side and successfully became a Senior Director of Data Analytics with a Bachelors degree in History.

CUT 2

Martin Story: We often encounter various inflection points in our lives, some people more than others. At these points we may be faced with a decision or a problem that needs to be solved that will change the course of our lives, for better or for worse. It can be easy to freeze up at these times and become paralyzed by the weight of the decision or we can weigh the facts and make a decision based on what we think (or maybe even hope) is the best decision to make for the parties involved. It is not easy to do but our guest today shows that sometimes you just have to make the decision and play the hand you're dealt.

Martin Intro: At a very young age, Martin said he knew that he was extremely interested in Ancient history, reading books about Ancient Egypt and Greek Mythology for as long as he can remember. So you might be wondering how he became the Senior Director of Marketing Analytics with a passion for and Bachelors degree in history and classical languages. He went back to school a few times to pursue a masters in Political Science, a masters in Ancient History, and be a doctoral student while going in and out of the business world. Well there is a story and a lesson behind each and every twist and turn in his journey that will leave you impressed with the determination he displayed as he dives into how he got to where is now. Without further delay, lets dive in!

Martin Reznick's path to becoming Senior Director of Marketing Analytics was anything but a straight shot. After being told he wasn't prepared to enroll in a PhD program as he finished up his undergrad, he could have let his life go sideways, but he remained resilient. He had some more hiccups along the way that we will get into, but years later he became Veeva's Marketing director. In this interview we touch on those hiccups he faced, the lessons he learned, and let Martin tell his incredible story that will leave you motivated and inspired.
