I'm Meina Liu and today, we will be hearing from Brett as he chats with Unusual Venture's, Amy Schroeder. With her wide range of experiences at various companies, including her own, she has honed her skills of fostering relationships, developing programs, and leading teams, Amy has shown an extensive expertise in the industry and she's on the show today to share a bit about her own story.
Background: Right place right time. This age old adage has circulated through industries, however how does one actually put themselves in this position. Today, Amy Schroeder gives us a little peak and unravels the secrets of serendipity where she talks about how to prepare for those magical moments, recognize when they strike, and make the most of them. And while preparation is important the key is to learn how do we catch these moments? It's said that luck opens doors, but skill keeps them open. Amy's career embodies this philosophy, from pioneering a content team at Etsy to harnessing Google Analytics to showcase the true value of content. Amy has bridged each instance to supplement her successful career.
Before she was a venture capitalist, Amy was an entrepreneur herself and founded Venus, an internationally distributed magazine. After selling the company she joined Unusual Ventures as Editorial Content Director. Amy I think perfectly exemplifies the modern businesswoman because not only is she a content leader at a top venture firm, she still finds the time to pursue a side project where she serves as the founder and CEO of Jumble & Flow, a blog aimed to empower women in their 40s. Her passion and expertise lies in her ability to tell stories and it is this simple trait that has enabled her success.
Analysis: In this interview, we will be discussing just how Amy found herself in these serendipitous situations and how she ensured she was at the right place at just the right time. Whether your interests lie in building a value-focused workplace, developing a strong network, finding the right mentorship in your industry, or knowing when to transition in your career, Amy has the advice you need to hear. In her view, being curious and attentive to your environment and the people around you, as well as broadening your experiences allows you to build a better foundation in leading you to these bountiful opportunities. With that said, we are excited to share these valuable insights with you so let's get straight into it...
