PODCAST INTRO: Intro Clip: 27:40- 28:31

Hey everyone! Welcome back to (name of podcast). I'm Miri Chan, one of your co-hosts and today we are joined by Suruchi Sharma. Suruchi is the VP of Commercial Strategy and Inspiration Analytics at T- Mobile and her career path has had her jumping around many different industries and many different roles. Suruchi began her career outside the world of business, graduating with a computer science and engineering degree. After a few years working in engineering though, she decided she wanted to transition to the business side of the company and pursue her MBA at Vanderbilt University. And even though she studied finance and marketing, her role today deals with strategy and analytics.

Immediately after graduating with her MBA, Suruchi went straight into consulting, where she was exposed to a multitude of industries which gave her time to figure out what industry she wanted to pursue for the long term. She recommends this route to those who don't know exactly what they want to pursue post graduation as consulting exposed her to large- scale problem solving in a variety of businesses, industries, and functions. And once she left consulting to join some of the major firms in industry, these large organizations have allowed her to explore problems on a deeper level.

Following her consulting roles, Suruchi stepped into strategy where she developed her ability to combine her engineering education with her business experience. Strategy roles are notoriously difficult to obtain at large companies so we asked if she had any advice or interview tips for students looking to pursue this career. Suruchi gave us examples of interview questions she asks fresh graduates and emphasizes the fact that these roles need smart people who can problem- solve on their toes.

To finish off, we asked Suruchi is she had one piece of advice or one important lesson that she could leave with you all. Her answer was the importance of mentorship. Suruchi says that finding and learning from mentors is the one thing that has stayed consistent throughout her career. She emphasizes the importance of searching for a mentor that can help with your professional development and wants to not only teach you, but also learn from you. Mentorship is a two way street and while we often think that we, as students, have more to learn from our mentors than they can learn from us, this is often wrong. Your perspective is valuable, your knowledge should not be underestimated, and your career path will lead you to exactly where you need to be. Stay tuned to hear Suruchi's inspiring advice after making a journey of uncertainty through so many different roles and industries.

@mirichann I Don't think the intro clip you've selected is very impactful. I think you need to find a more engaging part of the interview.
