Proposal:

Nuno focused a good bit on exploration finding one's passion. I think that these points can go together to make a nice narrative on the subject. Here are the points that I would like to pull from:

9:28 - (Q: what would you recommend to students in terms of when to switch jobs?) “As long as you’re learning and experiencing something new that is adding to your professional experience, everything is fine. Keep going... the moment you have mastered the given skill set, and you’re being asked to repeat things, that’s when you should think about doing something else.” Also, don’t get stuck being the expert of one specific thing. 11:53 - (Q: do you suggest changing career areas?) Sort of. Post grad is a good time to experiment and find your passion while also establishing a career path and learning by doing. 27:10 - (Q: do you need to be passionate to make something a full time job?) No, but you’ll have a harder time excelling. If you’re passionate, it’ll consume way less energy to do. 38:28 - 39:00 If you have a purpose, it doesn’t feel like work. (Would fit well with passion bit).

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for? Or something more detailed?

Overall Nuno notes:

3:15 - vid begins First question is about Nuno being Portugese 5:15 - how did you learn that skill about how to learn? Eh, difficult to chop up for video 6:30 - how did you choose your first job? Eh 9:28 - what would you recommend to students in terms of when to switch jobs? “As long as you’re learning and experiencing something new that is adding to your professional experience, everything is fine. Keep going... the moment you have mastered the given skill set, and you’re being asked to repeat things, that’s when you should think about doing something else.” Also, don’t get stuck being the expert of one specific thing. Great! 11:10 - would you recommend advocating for new/different responsibilities within one’s job? Absolutely. Not bad 11:53 - do you suggest changing areas as well (is engineering to marketing)? Sort of. Post grad is a good time to experiment and find your passion while also establishing a career path and learn by doing. Good 12:48 - eh 13:52 - you switched from programmer to marketing. How’d that happen? Developed naturally. Eh, not particularly engaging 15:21 - was it marketing that drew you to business or did you see the change to digital coming? 15:43 He talks about the importance of collecting data. Good anecdote on why data is important. Not bad 16:54 - did you see trends and that’s why you became involved with data? Sort of. Eh 17:58 - from there, where’d you go next? No 18:51 - how’d you like going from a large company to a small one? Benefits, not bad 19:31 - are you an advocate for boutique firms? Yes, but he’s more an advocate for finding a place where you connect with leaders and peers, good! 20:15 - what would you say to a student trying to build relations and understand leaders that the might work for? Don’t follow them on social media, 20:40 if you spend time face to face, you’ll see whether you connect. Good! 22:00 - are there good questions to ask in those interviews? What would be the key challenge, what is the work environment like, what is your manager like. There is no right or wrong. Okay 23:00 how’d you get to adidas? Eh 25:09 - did you learn any lessons in that first management position? He learned how differently different human being think. Eh 27:10 - do you need to be passionate to make something a full time job? No, but you’ll have a harder time excelling. If you’re passionate, it’ll consume way less energy to do. I like!!! 28:42 - how do you prepare yourself for leadership roles? There’s academic knowledge and empirical knowledge. Pretty good 30:42 - marketing stuffs. Importance of personalization 34:52 - how do you see yourself now and your goals? Describing his role. Eh 36: 32 for yourself, do you have specific goals? He has a passion for difficult, challenging things. Okay 38:28 - 39:00 if you have a purpose, it doesn’t feel like work. (Could fit well with passion bit). I like!!! 40:05 - as a leader, how do you empower without patronizing? 41:15 - how do you see engineering and digital marketing meshing? Eh 43:05 - ‘it’s having the curiosity to learn’ marketing stuff. Eh 44:12 - the importance of creativity and not relying solely on data. You need both creativity and science/analysis. Not bad! 45:34 - what is the Calvin Klein culture like? What kind of culture do you try to build within your team? Start-up mentality, lots to be done, feel comfortable with change. Good! 47:08 - what do you look for in a team? Contextual hiring - he looks for the skills for the specific role they’re hiring for. Okay 47:49 - how to prepare for interview? Eh. 49:22 - what is one piece of advice you have for college students/what would you have done differently in college? Stay as long as you can, enjoy, etc. Eh 50:35 - end
