As I am in the mood of "history" talks, I have submitted something about prometheus/client_golang, why it has the quirks it has. But I also want to make use of the opportunity of a room full of Gophers to get feedback about a few of the decisions for v2.

bwplotka commented 4 years ago

Sounds awesome! We also submitted our talk with @kakkoyun

beorn7 commented 4 years ago

@bwplotka @kakkoyun is that a replay of your GoDays talk?

kakkoyun commented 4 years ago

Yes, exactly.

metalmatze commented 4 years ago

I submitted a talk called "SLOs for Go developers that just want to run a service reliably"

Schedule is finally out: https://gophercon.berlin/schedule/

My talk is in: https://gophercon.berlin/schedule/#session-25

@mdlayher has a talk, too (but not Prometheus related): https://gophercon.berlin/schedule/#session-24

No other talk of Prometheans, I'm afraid.

metalmatze commented 4 years ago

My talk didn't get accepted (obviously). Might not even attend the conference as 500€ is quite some price tag to pay myself :joy: Looking forward to meeting people in Berlin nevertheless!

beorn7 commented 4 years ago

Postponed to the summer.

beorn7 commented 4 years ago

Still no news about the exact date. End of July for a physical conference appears increasingly unlikely at this point. We'll see…

Their Twitter mentions end of June. I'm prepping my talk for that timeline anyway. But yeah, no word since April which is a little concerning.

metalmatze commented 4 years ago

All gibber events are forbidden until end of August. So virtual at most.

Finally official news (not just a tweet). Conference will happen online 2020-06-15→19. I think that's a bit short notice. Seven talks back to back every day. Might devolve into a snoozefest.

My main concern is specific to my own talk: I was planning to make use of a bunch of Gophers in the same room. If the event is anyway online, I would rather write a blog post and publish an online survey to make the best out of the situation. The format of an online conference seem suboptimal. So I canceled my talk. (And sadly, the form they sent to the speakers only allowed one answer for Gophercon EU and Cloud Nein, without any free-form comment field. So I said no to both…)
