What about the possibility to connect actions via a "depends on" field?
I never had projects where all actions should be performed in sequence, but 
neither all in 
parallel! 

The function to impose sequential order on a subset of actions inside a 
project, increases 
flexibility a lot and matches real-life much better.

i am running into the same problem. none of my projects have all actions in 
sequence 
and as a result all open actions are next actions.
