This is a completely valid bug. I am having the same problem. I lost my
database, and I cannot restore my backup file. It also does not seem to be in
a readable format, so my todos seem to be completely lost. I have uninstalled
Shuffle for now, but I would greatly appreciate help recovering the data as
well. When trying to recover, I get a "null" error box. I don't know if I can
send you my database as is - it has proprietary data. If you are willing to
fix this, perhaps I can edit the file with a hex editor to have "xxxx" data or
somesuch.

It's using google protocol buffers. You should be able to void the data (keep
string lengths the same) and still have the file valid. If you do that, I can
take a look.
