Work out verification of Mefi profiles

I mean, so Mastodon profiles can optionally show "yup, they're on Metafilter, here's the link".

See enfa's pinned post, and gentlyepigram's stumbling on some rough spots.

Possible idea for a script:

• imitate verification workflow
• possibly verifying ssl certs, too

I vaguely remembered Nokogiri as being picky about html, so I ran html validation, and noticed that gentlyepigrams' profile had nested links in the "I donated to MetaFilter" widget. I nudged the admins about this. terrapin had a similar issue, and he's also donated. I haven't, and my verification is fine.

Something that might make sense: embed the Mastodon verification into a script, maybe also with https verification.

The odd html was in both profiles that worked and didn't work. I saved gnetlyepigrams' profile html elsewhere, tweaked it to point at my mastodon account and ... it verified. I asked her to retry and it worked. I'll count this as success with an uncertain reason.
