mefi.social is a Mastodon instance for Metafilter. It's unofficial - it's not controlled or owned by Metafilter. Everyone on here was verified as a Metafilter member. It's currently open to Metafilter members by invite only; request an invite by MeFi Mail. Not a replacement for Metafilter or Metatalk.
Where "closed to signups" was, now is the middle line, about "invite only".
For people who aren't logged on, the front page isn't informative, with a message like "not accepting new members." We could link to the Metatalk post or to mefimail / email me / admin.
