Fixes #230 . While it works for us, I would first like to actually understand why this is happening..

To be honest I completely forgot about this :) We have this change in production since ~1 year so this seems to be reliable. Unfortunately at the moment I do not have the time to complete this PR with tests / for other adapters. I'll leave this up to you if we want to keep it open / close it until I find the time.
