items with different vnums shouldn't stack #67

I have in my inventory 3 keys that stack that are clearly different from one another:

So this is general Prophecy behaviour!

I can see why you don't like it, and I don't disagree

I'd be a bit sad about the impact on the Boktor poisons though...

Ah, right. I forgot about that. And it would certainly impact an area that I was a builder for...

I think what I would want is an easy way to remove duplicate keys from a keyring. But maybe we should just give all keyrings 0% weight modifiers, and I can just deal with my OCD.

I can definitely get behind that!

I find interacting with lots of objects can get frustrating fast. I'm not sure if/what/how to deal with it well though.

MXP kind of helped here by making everything clickable, but also yikes.

One (tangential) idea I had was that a web interface made it much easier to pack more information in - imagine an "inventory" page that showed your full inventory tree, and you could click-to-id, expand/collapse, etc. - that isn't coming any time soon though and doesn't address the core issue.

I don't actually even remember what units "weight" is supposed to be in...

Mind if I punt this over to ideas?

I don't want to dismiss it, but I think we're in the realm of "actually this is how it's always been and it's not clear that it's broken, but maybe we could make some different choices and tradeoffs"

@Ranfir Looking back at this:

  1. I think those three keys should have different short descriptions - I know not everything can/should be a Unique and Special Thing but "a key" is too generic
  2. I appreciate that removing duplicates from a keyring can be tricky, but you know you can get 20. keyring right?
  3. Ughhh 0% weight modifiers :P
