I cannot seem to register

I get the following:

This site can’t be reached

services.sunlightlabs.com’s server DNS address could not be found.

I tried this both on Chrome and FF. I'm using:

macOS Sierra 10.12.1 Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7

And when I go to the status page, I get

{
  "please_use_the_https_endpoint_at": "https://congress.api.sunlightfoundation.com",
  "please": "https://congress.api.sunlightfoundation.com",
  "status": 200,
  "message": "I live!",

}

It's nothing to do with the client hardware or OS. I get the same error on a Windows 7 laptop.

Same problem here.

This seems to still be a problem - do we have word on a resolution in the works?

Cool - well in the mean time it does look like the original API at sunlight is working, just not the registrations surrounding the new propublic server

EightArmCode commented 7 years ago

Well that's good news.

A bit new to this API, but it looks like the original Sunlight API required an API key for usage, which is what you'd need the registration step for, right?

I never registered (as I said, late to the party), but I'm able to access the API without a problem.

I think to help with the lack of service during the transition they removed the API authentication so folks could still use it.

EightArmCode commented 7 years ago

Good one! I did not even try it.
