Note to self and other Protégé developers: this PR partially breaks Protégé-Distribution: Protégé itself starts, but fails to load any plugin. Not sure why – it doesn’t seem like the same problem as in #1084 (which also updates logback).

Do not merge until the problem has been investigated.
