Feature Request - CSV import #158

Open csnyulas opened 10 years ago

The CSV import feature could be very useful for a lot of users. Although we don't want to encourage people to use the public WebProtege service hosted at Stanford as a linked data repository, i.e. to create ontologies that contain mostly instances, because we have limited resources, I think that allowing bulk creation of a limited number of classes/instances based on a CSV file should be something that people would really appreciate.

Have you looked at GoogleRefine (now called OpenRefine)? That does a nice job of converting CSV to RDF.

Just took a look at OpenRefine, and it is really cool, indeed, and if could be exactly what some people would need to make sense of some messy data. However, when I opened this issue, I was thinking about a feature (which is in most part already implemented, but not advertised) that would allow WebProtege users to import their data which is in CSV file as OWL axioms in their ontology. This assumes that the data was already cleaned (for example with OpenRefine) and the user would like to have that data imported in an OWL ontology that he or she is editing in WebProtege.
