AckMate changed TextMate's Font Hinting #30

Closed chriskempson closed 12 years ago

Just installed AckMate, restarted TextMate and found my font hinting had changed. No idea how to get it back. Removing the plug-in has no effect. Hoping a fresh install of TextMate will fix it. Any idea what might cause this issue?

A quick defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2 restored it. Now beginning to think this has nothing to do with AckMate.

Hi Chris,

TextMate has its own font smoothing preference at the bottom of the fonts/colors preference pane. I'm not sure what the interaction is between that and your global preference...

I can confirm that I don't purposefully do anything with font settings so I don't think AckMate could be tampering with something critical.

Do let me know if you discover a situation where AckMate is causing this problem tho...

Thanks for getting back to me. I think you're speaking about the Anti-aliased option? If so it wasn't that. The text pictured above is anti-aliased in both cases. It's simply the level of sub-pixel rendering that had for some reason changed. I've closed the issue as I've been able to fix it with a global config setting, meaning, I think for some reason my computer just switched that item over at a co-incidental time. Apologies for the bother.
