9 years ago I think a reasonable way to handle this is to do two things:
- Start with a subset of material we need translated - Ideally, the wiki will be fully translated into multiple languages. That said, it may be infeasible to expect the entire wiki translated into every language. As a compromise, we can find a critical subset of the wiki that has the highest value content. For each update, we commit to having that content updated to match the English content within a particular time period; as an example, two weeks.
- Recruit translators - We'll need to recruit translators, each of the translators should agree to meet the translation delay commitment decided upon previously. I'd assume this group will meet regularly to discuss any issues that have come up, decide on new items to put into the critical subset and so forth.
One topic that is important to consider is how the backlog and progress of this effort can be documented. Maybe a service to check for new edits and make new Github issues?
The wiki is multilingual, and I think the translations / language specific pages might be outdated or at least need a review. Even better: Get constant attention to these pages, in order to keep them as up to date as the English ones.
