Ok, this #557 was a flop.
We need a better way of telling them apart from SELECTs.
There is a new attributes in template XML Combobox=1 if it should be a combobox.
Keep - for now, but it will be undocumented.

Atanas, can you update a test template using a field editor?
Check the XML to see if the attribute is there. See Overview page. There is a 
new link (XML) somewhere in the details near the peramlink text box.

by removing the "-" from lists of values and checking the "combobox" option in 
the field editor instead.

I see the attribute in the XML (xml_combobox.png).

Nope :( sorry about that. I had to reinstall both testing instances when 
testing something else and an err prevents me from setting them up again:
