At the moment there is no divide to constraints option in the slicer and no option to cut a model across more than one plane at a time.
Describe the solution you'd like
I would like the addition of an option to "divide model into printable parts" which, when selected, would render a 3D grid into the viewer window. The user could then adjust the placement of the grid on three axis as well as adjusting other settings, such as the dovetail creation that exists in the current, single plain "cut" tool. Then, when activated, the model would be segmented into the parts determined by the grid, the pieces would be numbered and moved off the print bed.
Additional sub-features that would be helpful:
•A "move next section to bed" function would be useful here to keep track of which parts had been sliced.
•An automatic "label parts" option that, if selected in the pre-cut dialogue box, would add a code to the cut surface of each piece with a .2mm negative recess as standard to prevent overhang issues.
•An option to have a part in the platter view be automatically re-coloured after it has been sliced and a G-gode has been saved, again, to help keep track of large models that have been split into multiple parts which are then being sliced and sent to different machines.
Describe how it would work
This is well outside of my skillset but I feel it would be a modified version of the current cut tool and would understand the maximum print size of the printer selected by the user.
Describe alternatives you've considered
The current alternatives involve using other software, much of which is clunky or does not integrate well. Ant time scale specific models have to travel between programs there is a risk of something going wrong so this would greatly simplify that process.
Additional context
Here you can see a screen grab of a full size hippo model standing over the print bed of my Prusa XL.
And here you can see the current cut tool, with its single plane of action.
