Modifier positioning axis rotate with part

When adding a modifier box or any other shape to a part that has been rotated, or is rotated afterwards, the axis for part manipulation of the box become inconsistent. Size manipulation axis appear to correspond to absolute axis, while Positioning manipulation appears to have rotated together with the part. This is inconsistent and very confusing.

Repro:

• Rotate object by 90° via "place on face" tool
• Add box to any object
• Observe part manipulation for the box
• Size manipulation for x, y and z works as expected, i.e. Z resizes in Z direction
• Position manipulation swapped some axis around, e.g. 'Z' may now move in Y direction

How is this still a thing 1.5 years later? It's costing me hours of my day right now. I can do whatever I want, the axis for the added modifier shape is rotated by default and there is no way for me to change that. Moving these shapes to the places where I want them is the single most annoying thing I had to do in PrusaSlicer yet.
