PrusaSkirtProblem

DeWalt_battery_holder.zip

3D printer brand / version + firmware version (if known)

Ender 3 V2 (4.2.2 board)

Behavior

Loaded an STL model with skirt settings for 2 loops, 8mm offset, 1 layer thick Printed the model vertically to reduce issues with overhang and PETG stringing. Rotated the model along the z axis to align the long edge with the y axis and reduce shake. Scaled model to 105%. Printed to test size - all ok, except the skirt did not rotate with the model

Added two instances of the model via right click command, (looks good) Printed - ok. However the skirt was not modified from the original single model. It is non-rotated and still sized for a single instance.

This shows on the sliced preview and in the Octoprint viewer and it prints exactly as shown.

I've resliced, modified the skirt parameters and nothing seems to change the overall size/orientation?

Is this a new feature request? No

Project File (.3MF) where problem occurs

Upload a PrusaSlicer Project File (.3MF) (Plater -> Export plate as 3MF for Slic3r PE 1.41.2 and older, File -> Save / Save Project for PrusaSlicer, Slic3r PE 1.42.0-alpha and newer) Images (PNG, GIF, JPEG), PDFs or text files could be drag & dropped to the issue directly, while all other files need to be zipped first (.zip, .gz)

I don't understand the problem. I loaded and sliced your 3MF, it ended up the same as your picture. This is how first layer looks like: skirt

What is wrong?

Thank you for looking into this and responding to me. If you go up the layers to a height of 0.92, you will see that the objects expand in the vertical direction to the point where the battery holders intercepts the skirt.

The skirt is being drawn around the first layer perimeter and not the total perimeter, or at least high enough for interference not to occur.

By the time the print is finished, the skirt is welded to the battery holder which increases the amount of clean-up required.

If you up the "Distance from brim/object" setting to 20 mm it gives an acceptable result. This picture is at 0.92mm height.

Thank you, I can do that.

I submitted the comment because I thought that the situation would occur enough that the slicer should be able to detect the interference and account for it automatically.

But you are correct, there are work arounds.
