Feature request: Adding "wood joints" when cutting #7938

Closed alfvicente closed 2 years ago

alfvicente commented 2 years ago

Version

2.4.0

Operating system type + version

Debian GNU/Linux 11

3D printer brand / version + firmware version (if known)

RepRap Prusa - Marlin 2.0.9

Behavior

I got this idea today when cutting an object to make it fit my hotbed, I don't know if this would be possible but here it goes. When cutting an object, show the possibility to create some kind of "wood joinery" like the one in the image (that one is called "dovetail" I think) to give the parts a little more strength when glueing them after printing. Maybe letting the user choose the axis (X/Y) on which orient the joint, and maybe the size of the "fingers".

Is this a new feature request? Yes

Something along these lines is planned for 2.5.0, although I will not promise wood joints like that now.

By the way, this is a duplicate of #5553, I suggest the discussion (if any) continues there. Closing.
