Checks

Describe the issue

I tested EyeToy on some games in my ps2 (with SMB), in all of them them there was no video output from EyeToy to the games.

when the game start, its detect camera without any problem (I mean if I unplug it, the games show some message about EyeToy disconnected) but no video from camera, just black screen...

I was thinking that my EyeToy broken, but someone suggested me to test it on OPL 0.8... and I did, all games worked without any problem! I mean the EyeToy detected without any problem and also worked...

so Im thinking why the latest OPL build cant work with EyeToy anymore btw thank you all for this awesome work.

Console model

SCPH-90004

OPL version / revision

v1.2.0-Beta-1802-bc29da3

In which device(s) have you experienced this issue?

SMB

Context and extra information

I tested it on 4 game none of them worked on latest version of OPL, but 3 of them worked on 0.8 (the last one also show the camera on title screen, but freeze on loading) Lemmings [SCES_541.45] EyeToy - AntiGrav [SCUS_974.14] EyeToy Play [SCES_515.13] -> latest version cant even start this one, it freeze just after running it (but 0.8 can) EyeToy Play 2 [SCUS_974.68] -> this one freeze in loading screen (in 0.8 I cant test it in latest version)

hdloader run eyetoy games and open eyetoys image

in 2012 i played many games of eyetoy in HDD (50000 series)

I tested some time ago on 1.2.0 and worked on hdd and smb, it will not work on usb on any version

Nick5779 commented 1 year ago

Venão, didn't you mean 1.1.0, as the 1.2.0 is in beta??? And... I'm not an expert on this but the USB doesn't work because the power delivery isn't enough to handle a USB Device such as a pen-drive or a Hard Disk and the Eye Toy at the same time??? If this is the problem, could the Eye Toy work with m4xsio and iLink as they doesn`t use the USB ports???

hardlevel commented 1 year ago

No, I used 1.2.0, I know it's on beta, and it worked

That is my question as well... The other day I asked the same question in discord server, someone answered me that it won't work on MX4SIO either, because the problem come from how BDM work, and all USB, MX4SIO and iLink (I think) use this interface... But I myself didn't tested it, tbh I'm hoping for it to work with MX4SIO at least, having to connect my ps2 to SMB each time is kinda hard (I have a slim model) because of all this I didn't even tested my eyetoy properly yet...

hello venão, i am your fan of your youtube channel!

i tested today the last beta 1.2.0 1970 and the version 0.9.2 on my ps2 39000 (games: eyetoy 1(U), eyetoy 2(U and E), eyetoy 3(U), kinect combat) on HDD SD with a original network adapter

092: its ok run all the games

120 1970: this time it crashed a few minutes after opening the screens that the eyetoy image appears.

when I tested at 094, 100 and 110 (ps2 39000, ps2 50000, ps2 slim 90000), the game worked normally but the eyetoy image did not appear.

what version did you test?

yes, I had previously tested with HDD, SMB USB.

even the running version (OPL 0.9.2) doesn't show image on USB

i dont have a mx4sio or a ilink case... but in this version dont run

YouKnow-sys commented 1 year ago

For the record, I tested Eyetoy with MX4SIO. And it still didn't worked, camera is just black...

hardlevel commented 1 year ago

i think that you can't use bdm for this, use on smb, dvd or hdd

With 1964 and SMB I'm getting a black screen instead of the Eyetoy image. With HDD and 1964, the camera works as intended.

YouKnow-sys commented 9 months ago

I think I should give some update here I tested with MX4SIO again but this time I disabled PADEMU and would you look at that... I'm now playing eyetoy games from my MX4SIO! not all games are supported but I managed to play some of them.

DJTerrum commented 5 months ago

It would be really appreciated to have this fixed on the latest/next OPL release. I'm still having to use OPL 0.9.2 to play EyeToy games over SMB.

hardlevel commented 5 months ago

I will test it on latest build

DJTerrum commented 5 months ago

I have tested EyeToy Play (SCES_515.13) on OPL 1.1.0, the camera shows as static.

kNOwAHitall commented 5 months ago

You can not use a USB Camera if your game is loading from USB at the same time. PADEMU must also be disabled.

True, I never managed to run a eyetoy game from USB no matter what I tried. But I did managed to run them from MX4SIO, and yeah I had to disable PADEMU in order for it to work. So if anyone else want to try eyetoy games from anyway other than SMB and HDD, I think their only option would be MX4SIO. Although it would've been nice if we're able to run them from USB as well... I mean PS2 have 2 USB slot, although I'm not sure if they can work in parallel...

It would be even nicer if we could find out what changes happened in 0.9.3+ that made the camera suddenly stop working over HDD/SMB. After all, if I have it working right now on 0.9.2, then something must have happened in 0.9.3 onwards that stopped it from working.

Did you tried disabling PADEMU? (Globally) I've used eyetoy on recent version of OPL (not latest beta, but +1.0) over SMB without much of problem, I mean sure I never managed to play some games, they just freeze or not launch at all, but at least it worked for other games...
