[ISSUE]: [SLUS_206.52 & SLES_514.66]: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell won't play FMVs

Describe the issue

I tried both the USA and European versions, when you get to the main menu and try to select the credits or the Extra Features videos the game will take you to a darkened loading screen and then back to the menu, the FMVs of the missions also will not play, This happens on both USB and SMB.

My PS2 model is SCPH-90008. I use redump images and don't use PADEMU, VMC, GSM.

@AkuHAK could you tell krat0s if he can look up into this issue? I just tried this game on PS2ESDL and it loads all the FMVs (some of them, mainly the Extra Features videos lag alot, but that is to be expected since is running via USB)

I tried it by loading that versión of OPL through USB and it didn't change anything, is there something specific i should do? my console is SCPH-90010

check with this version 2024-db51e73 @Phantasm90 This is supposed to fix the crash after trying to play several FMV ingame or at extras/credits. After a few tries it would always crash. Can you verify it no longer crashes at least? FMV skipping is still an issue but that is caused from other issues requiring a different fix.

Tested it on SLUS_206.52 Splinter Cell, on USB it never froze on me i tried to load the credits 30 times, didn't try further than that, on SMB the game doesn't freeze for about 16 loading screens, on the 17th time the game freezes at a pink screen.

Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow [SLUS_209.58], Splinter Cell Chaos Theory [SLUS_211.37] and Splinter Cell Double Agent [SLUS_213.56] still freeze at startup on SMB, on USB they work

Sometimes it happens that ZSO works well, but ISO does not (1, 2, 3). How is this possible?

@10522 i tested [SLUS_206.52] ZSO just like you did with [SLPM_654.22] via USB and the credits and FMVs loaded! The Sam Fisher FMVs of the extra features lag and the audio de-syncs but they work!

@Phantasm90, i confirm it. But in OPL Beta 1.2.0 2016 it's the same, which means that OPL Beta 1.2.0 2024 does not fix this game.

It calls my attention that as commented here, after loading SLUS_209.58 through an SSD the game was working for him even without a costum elf, @AKuHAK how is that possible? Can reading speed fix SLUS_209.58, SLUS_211.37 and SLUS_213.56?

Just tried Pandora Tomorrow on OPL Beta 2082 from a HDD, SC2A.ELF, Modes 2 and 6 Enabled. Still froze on first loading screen.
